Who is this training for?

All employees in the workplace and industrial first responders who may be required to respond, according to existing protocols, to stabilize a victim and transfer them to paramedics.
There are no prerequisites for this training.

Description

By the end of this training, the candidate will be able to apply emergency first aid techniques in an industrial setting. This training meets First Responder, Student Guide, Direction des services préhospitaliers d’urgence, and Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux standards.

Goals

  • Describe the responsibilities and role of a first responder
  • Assess the scene and control potential risks
  • Apply a prehospital clinical approach protocol to medical emergency victims
  • Apply a prehospital clinical approach protocol to trauma victims
  • Apply technical treatment protocols
  • Apply treatment protocols for respiratory tract management
  • Apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques
  • Recognize legal medical issues during clinical interventions
  • Apply a prehospital clinical approach protocol to medical emergency victims
  • Apply treatment protocols for cardiopulmonary arrest

Content

  • Adult cardiorespiratory arrest (CPR)
  • Using an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Shock
  • Medical problems and trauma
  • Diabetic problems and allergic reactions
  • Injuries to the head, spine, and extremities
  • Techniques for moving a victim

Evaluation

Written exam and practical tests. The required passing grade is 80%. A supplemental exam is available.
