Who is this training for?

This training course is for employees who are members of a company fire brigade. It is designed to ensure the response team is trained to respond to industrial fires.
Prerequisites: Workplace First Aid

Description

By the end of this training, the candidate will be able to apply industrial firefighting techniques with breathing apparatus and protective clothing. This training is based on NFPA 600, NFPA 1081, NFPA 10, IFSTA, and Académie des Pompiers standards.

Content

  • Legal framework and definitions
  • Identifying and controlling hazards
  • Presenting and handling equipment: personal protection, SCBA, hoses, nozzles, fire extinguishers, and fire extinguishing foam

Evaluation

One 25-question written exam. Assessment of working knowledge for using a portable fire extinguisher, wearing an SCBA, setting up hoses, and using fire extinguishing foam.  The required passing grade is 80%. A supplemental exam is available.
