Who is this training for?

All employees who may be required to respond to a workplace incident involving hazardous materials, using personal protection including an SBCA. 
There are no prerequisites for this training.

Description

At the end of this training, the candidate will be able to respond to an incident involving hazardous materials/weapons of mass destruction, while protecting lives, property, and the environment. This training is based on RRQ, c. Q-2, r.15.2, NFPA 472, APSAM, Académie des pompiers, and Responding in the Presence of Hazardous Materials standards.

  • Reading material safety data sheets

  • Wearing a respiratory system

Content

  • Mandatory documentation and related requirements
  • Safety standards and safety rules
  • Emergency response plan
  • Risks, standards, and levels of exposure
  • Handling personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus
  • Using tools: GMU, MSDS, detector, decontamination equipment
  • Simulation equipment (gas, liquid, solid)

Pedagogical approach:
Dynamic lessons about the theoretical approach, and practical workshops

Evaluation

One 25-question exam and an assessment of working knowledge: using a multi-gas detector and wearing an SBCA. The required passing grade is 80%. A supplemental exam is available.
