All company employees who transport or work with hazardous materials.

Description

At the end of this course, participants will be able to manage small spills and leaks of hazardous materials in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. They will also be able to apply containment techniques to control hazardous materials spills.

  • Using an Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG)

  • Using the emergency plan
  • Using plugging products like rods, absorbents, etc.
  • Detecting and measuring a spill

  • Identify hazardous materials
  • Understand the risks associated with hazardous materials
  • Choose appropriate safety equipment
  • Approach hazardous materials safely
  • Isolate hazardous materials
  • Understand the specifics of hazardous material containment
  • Contain hazardous materials

Evaluation

One 25-question written exam and an assessment of working knowledge: using a multi-gas detector and determining an exclusion area.
The required passing grade is 80%. A supplemental exam is available.
