Who is this training for?

All employees who are required to use an SCBA and a supplied air respirator in their workplace.

Description

At the end of this training, the candidate will be able to use a self-contained personal respiratory protection device and a supplied air system. This training is based on NFPA 1006, NFPA 1081, CAN/CSA Z94.4, LSST-S-2.1 Section VI, and Académie des pompiers standards.

  • Legal framework and definitions
  • Identifying and controlling hazards
  • Handling 2 breathing apparatus (SBCA and supplied air systems)
  • Operating the 2 respirators and understanding their components and features
  • How to move around while wearing an SBCA
  • Changing an SBCA cylinder

Evaluation

One 25-question written exam and an assessment of working knowledge required to put on an SBCA, to change the canister, to put on a supplied air system, and to operate an air cart. The required passing grade is 80%. A supplemental exam is available.
